The really bad news about the release date of the seventh season is now clear to everybody and almost everybody accepted it. It is possible that we won’t see our friends until next summer, instead of the usual date in May/April. In fact, usually the release date was in May, but there were problems already in the sixth season, which came out on April 24th. Every year we have to wait more, and this seems crazy but there is also a good explanation: Winter is here. The showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained: “We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here,’ and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more.” In fact, for the same purpose, next season will be placed in North Ireland, Spain, and Iceland.
Another bad news is that the season we are all waiting for is just the second to last. In fact, our beloved Game of Thrones will end with the eighth season. This is another fact that are making all the fans mad, and what brought George R.R. Martin to start thinking about a new series connected with Game of Thrones. There are rumors about a prequel, which can be amazing, but maybe not enough for some people. Also because the next two seasons will not be ten episodes long: the seventh season will have only eight episodes, and the last one will last for only six episodes.
They are not only making us waiting more and more to meet our friends again, they are also making it end slowly and fastly at the same time. But I think we all can excuse them, as a matter of fact they did a great job.
But it is better not to think about all these sad things. Let’s think about what is going to happen. First of all, because of the many deaths GoT has done through the time, we think that cannot know if the main characters or our favorite one is going to die soon. But we can use some rumors to have some ideas. For season 7 Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), and Lena Headey (Cersei) are signed. We know it of course, because we have seen all of them in the last episode of season 6, but in this Game nothing is sure. Again, these actors seem to have a contract for season 8, which seems very strange because of the style of this show. To be more specific. Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke are among the cast members reportedly signed up for the eighth and final season; while Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey will earn $500,000 per episode for the already-commissioned season 7, and a possible season 8.
Though this could seem a kind of spoiler for many people, I leave you with a real massive spoiler (for anyone who hasn’t read the books). We have already talked about what could happen thanks to the prophecies and the fan’s theories but unfortunately there is no plan for the character of Lady Stoneheart. For those who don’t know about her, Lady Stoneheart is Catelyn Stark brought back from the dead by Beric Dondarrion and goes on a revenge tour of Westeros: she kills anyone even remotely associated with the Lannisters, Boltons, and Freys. Even the director of the show Mark Mylod said they hadn’t planned to recreate the character on the screen; maybe also because Arya is now the Stark looking for vengeance.
